Grease lubrication of fixed chamber round baler

Flawless operation thanks to a progressive system

8 JANUARY 2020

During your travels you will almost certainly happen to notice a lot of bales of hay in the middle of the fields, and you’ll probably ask yourself how they’re made. The process for compacting hay and giving it its round shape consists of various phases, for which the round balers have a fundamental role.

The fixed chamber round baler is a piece of agricultural machinery used in the harvesting phase of hay that allows to the fresh grass to be transformed into dry grass, causing the loss of moisture in the stem and therefore making hay.

This type of machine is equipped with a high efficiency “pick up” harvester chamber that, by using a product conveyor plate, collects the hay in a compression chamber and reduces it to the ideal weight and size, maximising efficiency and reducing blockages.

At the end of the process of forming the hay bale, the openable bottom is activated directly by the operator without needing to get off from the tractor, enabling them to continue their work without interruption.

The advantages of baler lubrication

Agricultural machinery operates at a rapid pace without interruptions in an environment characterised by inhospitable conditions, where dust and debris can jeopardise the correct operation of machinery with negative consequences on production.

The fixed-chamber round baler has a harvester chamber made from various mobile parts including bearings, bushings, rollers and gears support for hardened steel cemented gears. Each of these components must operate impeccably to facilitate the correct completion of the harvest, compression and release phases of the hay bale.

Lubrication units 4.0

To ensure the success of this process it’s possible to use a grease progressive lubrication system that is capable of providing the correct amount of lubricant to mobile components and the harvest chamber in order to help the machine eliminate the breakage risks of the components and, at the same time, guarantee protection and cleaning from dust, straw and hay.

Current lubrication systems offer a wide range of solutions, from simple systems like drived pumps or mechanically operated pumps (compact and easy to use solutions) to the latest-generation 4.0 pump.

This new generation of lubrication units are equipped with a touch screen display that enables the lubrication cycles to be set according to machine needs, and can be equipped with control devices that are able to detect the lack of lubrication that may be caused by a system blockage.

In addition to the advantage of programming  cycles and the possibility of detecting the system’s warning alarms, the remote control management system allows the user to easily monitor the lubrication status from PC or smartphone, thanks to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection, relieving the operator from all system management.
