Rolling mill air/oil lubrication system

The Dropsa air-oil lubrication system has5-Stand Tandem Cold Mill to lubricate the bearings and seals positioned inside the Working Roll / Intermediate Roll / Back-up Roll  chocks.

The  function  is  achieved  by  using  Dropsa’s  SMX  progressive  dividers,  tailor-made splitter tubes, cutting-edge control panel and other components.

A lubrication cycle of the system could be simplified as following:
When the system is activated, the main oil station will pump oil from its tank and push it to the satellite panels until preset inline pressure is reached.

Inside  the  satellite  panels,  the  oil  is  divided  into  precise  quantities  by  SMX  progressive dividers and then mixed with compressed air to form the air-oil mixture.

By connection tubes, the air-oil mixture is transported to the different bearing chocks and finally delivered proportionally to each lubrication point by various types of splitter tubes positioned inside.

Whole system is controlled by the control panel with touch screen display. The  system  can  work  continuously  and  guarantee  a  stable  lubricant  supply  to  ensure  that  the bearings are well lubricated.

It can be operated by remote control and local control. Running  signals  could  be  sent  from  the  control  panel  to  client’s  PLC.  The  quantity  of  lubricant supplied  can  also  be  adjusted  in  a  given  range.

The operation  status  of  lubrication  system, including  the  oil,  air  and  air-oil  flow  is  monitored   by  several  sensors  and  devices,  in  order  to detect faults and malfunctions.

System Overview:

The  air-oil  lubrication  system  is composed by the following main elements:

 •  Main  oil  station  unit  with  electrical  motor  drived  gear  pumps,  electrical  control  panel, monitoring  and display with  touch  screen,  instruments  (thermostat,  heater, filters,  visual level and electrical level).
 •  Air-oil  satellite  panel  with  SMX  progressive  dividers,  air  treatment  group,  pressure switches, flowmeters, mixing valve and etc.
  •  Splitter tubes positioned inside Woring Roll / Intermediate Roll / Back-up Roll Chocks with quick coupling fittings and flexible tubes.
  •  Automatic  oil  discharge  device  of  Back-up  Roll  Chocks  for  oil  return,  including  quick coupling fittings and tubes.
