Single Line lubrication 01 and 33V

Features and operating principles of single line and 33V systems

5 JULY 2021

Now we continue on our journey in discovering the different types of lubrication solutions. Introducing the DropsA Single Line 01 and the single line 33V lubrication systems.

Single Line lubrication systems are simple and effective for applications on small machines. These product lines can be utilized with manual pumps, electric pumps, and pneumatic pumps, in combination with spiral dividers for continuous lubrication, and cylindrical dividers for intermittent lubrication.

The benefits of using Single Line lubrication systems include:

- Lower cost of lubrication systems

- Solutions suitable for any application needs

- Metric units that are easy to expand or modify

How a single line system works?

In Single Line lubrication systems, Oil is pumped from a pumping station at a maximum pressure of 10 bar through a single supply line. It is then metered and sent to the lubrication points by means of particular dividers.

Each divider lubricates a single point, different types of dividers with varying, metered capacities are available:

- Spiral for continuous lubrication

- Cylindrical for intermittent lubrication

- Available for support, distribution, and collection.

CONTINUOUS LUBRICATION FOR SPIRAL DIVIDER
In spiral dividers, the function of the spiral itself (consisting of a threaded cylinder), is to create a long and narrow passage for the oil, allowing for precise dosing even at small flow rates.

These elements have characteristics which make them suitable only for a continuous operation. In fact, if used in intermittent operation, the oil contained in the pipeline would continue to flow even while the pump is not operating.

INTERMITTENT LUBRICATION
In cylindrical dividers, the ability to operate intermittently is possible due to a cylindrical needle inserted inside the body of the divider. Unlike spiral dividers, a check valve prevents non-pressurized oil (when the pump is stopped) from continuing to flow through the divider, therefore these dividers can be used for continuous and intermittent service.

33V Single Line lubrication

The 33V valve is a precise lubrication system for dosing a specific amount of lubricant directly to the end point.

The 33V injectors operate at a maximum pressure of 50 bar, with manual pumps, electric pumps, and pneumatic pumps with 32-2000 cSt oil and Grease up to NLGI0.

The benefits of using 33V Single Line lubrication systems include:

- Are compatible and interchangeable with 03 line system (Accumo), 04 (Accumino) and 06 Line (Dromatic).

- Compact format

- High reliability

- Manifolds compatible with several systems on the market

This system is suitable for small to medium sized machines, such as machine tools, woodworking machines, and presses.

When to utilize a 33V system?

The 33V system is suitable for:

- Small to medium sized applications where intermittent lubrication with oil or grease is required.

- Use with up to 100 points (Generally <50 points)

- Easily designed and simple to use

- Can be utilized with electric or manual (pneumatic) pumps

- Basic monitoring and precise lubrication

- Low overall cost and budget

- Ability for simple substitution and interchangeability of old dividers

OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The 33V injectors are volumetric, and at each cycle provide an equal amount of lubricant regardless of operating pressure, viscosity, and operating temperature.

The 33V system shown in the image has the lubrication cycle in stand-by.

During the lubrication cycle, the pump pressurizes the line. All the 33V valves are pressurized and release a quantity of lubricant equal to pre-set injector displacement.

When the pump shuts down, the line depressurizes. This step is required to allow filling of the dosing chamber of the dispenser.

After the lubrication cycle, the system remains in a stand-by state before the next cycle.

1) STAND-BY PHASE
At this step the system is pressurized, and the lubricant enters the sides of the head gasket.

The head gasket, moving simultaneously with the lubricant inlet, closes the central passage

2) PRESSURIZATION PHASE
The lubricant enters in the superior chamber that causes the downward movement of the piston. This movement pushes the lubricant form the previous cycle to the outlet, up to the point to be lubricated.

3) PRE-SET PHASE
The final phase occurs when the pressure on the main line is lower than the spring pressure. During this phase the spring pushes the piston upwards, which in turn pushes the lubricant into the central channel. At the same time, the lubricant flows into the dispensing chamber for the next lubrication cycle.

USAGE RULE OF 33V SYSTEM
· Each injector shall be on the direct pump line, called “Primary Line”.
· Each injector outlet must reach the final point to be lubricated – Secondary Line (cascade systems are not possible).
· Check valves shall not be used on the primary line.
· Check valves are allowed only on secondary line (in the flow direction). It is advisable to use them when the length of the secondary line exceeds approximately 3 meters (10 Feet).
·  Lubrication/pressurization of the line normally takes less than 20 seconds.
·  In case you are using a single pump system (manual or pneumatic), it is necessary to use a double safety margin compared to the absorption of the system (sum of the flow rates of the valves).
·  The release time shall consider the size of the lines and the temperature and the density of the lubricant.
